I looked in the mirror at my eye. It hurt just to even open it. I thought about the night before. I was sitting on my couch, when my ex-husband and I had an argument and out of nowhere he hit me. He hit me so hard that I went into shock. I ran in the middle of the street, walking around in circles until someone grabbed me by my shoulders and said, “Stop, look at your eye, you’re bleeding.” I continued to examine my eye. It hurt badly. However, that physical scar that caused the pain would heal. But something on the inside of me left. When he hit me my sense of self-worth seemed to have left as well. Beautiful me, seemed to be no more! LaToya M Hosey
