Don't Quit

How many times have you felt like quitting? Sometimes the situations that life presents us can be overwhelming and cause us to throw in the towel. How can one person go through so much and be expected to just move in? I mean nobody knows the pain of divorcing someone that you believed was your life partner. Nobody knows the pain of an unexpected passing of a loved one. Nobody knows about the debt you seem to be drowning in, and no matter how hard you try you just can’t seem to recover. Nobody knows the tears you cry over that wayward child that just can’t seem to find their way back home. Nobody knows your pain, yet they expect you to move on. Why do they care, and how do you move on from such happenstances? Well Dear One’s I’m glad you asked. I just want to share with you something that happened to me. I was attending Robert Morris College in Orland Park, Illinois. At the time I was divorced, had two children, and living back home with my parents. It seemed that life whooped me real good! Somehow during this time, I had strength enough to cry out to God and rededicate my life to Him. However, on this day while driving to school I was overwhelmed. I wasn’t making a lot of money on my job, didn’t know how I was going to get a place for my children, and didn’t even know why I was going back to school. So, I had a meltdown to the Lord, “God I hate school, I’m tired of going to school, and I’m just going to quit. I’m going to turn this car around and go home right now!” Instantly in the left lane a beautiful, clean Cadillac cruised past me. I can’t tell you who was driving, neither, what color it was. I just knew it was a Cadillac that caught my eye. I stopped venting, “Woo, Lord that Cadillac is so clean and nice.” As the car kept driving, I just happened to glance at the license plates, because I wanted to take in the whole sight of this beautiful car and to my surprise the plates read “DNTQUIT.” And just a blink of an eye, the Cadillac kept driving until it was no longer in my view. I continued driving in aww. I drove in silence wanting to say something to God, but I couldn’t say anything. However, I got the message. God is such an amazing God that He knows just what to use to give you a message. He knows that my favorite car is a Cadillac and I long to have one, someday. He used the thing I love to give me the right message. God will use what we love to give us a message. What is God trying to tell you through your loved ones, or that one thing you love? Let me just remind you quitting is the easy way out. It’s easier to quit than to work hard for something, that’s worth it. Whether it be that degree, marriage, your kids, your health, whatever it is, I challenge you to persevere. James 1:4 reads let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. (NIV) You can do it! I’m cheering for you!

Blessings and Love, "T"
