Why I Write

Praise the Lord Saints! I am happy to announce that my children's book, My Friend Jesus, is finally out. I am so very excited about this book only because it took a lot of hard work, time, and dedication to publish. And it's for the Babies!!!!!! So with that being said, I wanted to talk a little about why I write and the writing process. I pray that this will be an encouragement for you all!

When I was in the 5th grade I was put into a Chapter 1 reading class. "You have to write a book for the Young Author's Contest," is what the teacher said. I wasn't excited and I didn't want to do it. However, in the 5th grade, I had no other option....I had to write a book. My book's title was, "A Mouse and A Friendly Duck." I don't really remember the details of the book. What I do remember is that it was about a mouse that met a duck while walking in a forest one day. Whatever the details of the story was, I can remember the teacher telling my mom that she needed to follow through with entering me in the contest because at my age, the book was really good. As I listened to the teacher, and the excitement in her voice I thought to myself, "It was about a mouse and a duck. Why is that so good?" What I didn't realize back then was that I had a gift. The teacher noticed it, but I didn't. God had planted this awesome gift in me, but it wasn't time for it to be revealed.

When I became an adult and after I gave my life to Christ I began to write again. This time when I wrote I told myself that I was going to publish the book. I had a pen and a notebook, that I carried with me everywhere. Everyday I wrote this fiction book with these fiction characters with one motive in mind! To let everybody know that Jesus is real, and that Jesus heals.

Why Fiction? With fiction you can make the story go where you want it to go. You can do what you want with the characters. You can relate fiction stories to real life while delivering the Good News!

Will I write a non-fiction book? Yes, it's actually in the making now. One thing about Christ is He wants you to share your testimony because it will help to set others free. Because I am writing for Chirst, I have to write what He tells me too, and that is my testimony.

Lastly where does my motivation come from? Christ of course. He placed this gift in me and I have to use it for His glory. I belong to Him and because of that I don't worry about where the money will come from to publish my books. I just know that He will provide because I'm doing it all for Him. He saved me, delivered me, and kept me! I owe Him me!

My advice to you would be this! Only what you do for Christ will last! Be encouraged and God bless you!
